Gaborone International Food festival on the pipeline

It seem this year will be a one of many  events that celebrate  world food appreciation. To add on to the already existing cookout events and food festivals, The International Food Festival Gaborone will be joining the bandwagon. The is billed for September 5th at a venue yet to be disclosed. Communications Manager of the Food Festival, Lloyd Mwape shared with Time Out that, “Gaborone city has different types of people living in her and to appreciate this diversity, we have come up with a concept of a International Food Festival that will host several international food dishes other than our own.”

 
He goes on to add that of the 60 countries they have invited to be part of the food festival, 17 have confirmed. “To ensure that, this festival includes other cultures from other nations we went out and contacted embassies of different countries whom we wish to take part and other small community groups of different nations and asked if they can come join us and we all showcase our culture. So far the response is amazing. Brazil, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, India, Cuba, Portugal and a few others have confirmed that they will be a part of this food festival,” says Mwape.

 
The organizers revealed that the food festival will also include entertainment ranging from different types of music genres, clowns, food games and the event will start at 10am and carry on until late in the evening. It is open to families. Mwape also added,  “Artists have not yet been confirmed as we are currently still negotiating prices with them and let me point out that we are still open to have talks with those who wish to take part in the entertainment part of the event. Another important thing to mention is that those with interest to have stalls at the event, registration is open from the 16th of February until the 30th of April.”
