Gaolaolwe heading for trials at Platinum Stars

BDF XI and Zebras defender Mosha Gaolaolwe is reportedly close to finalizing a week long trial at South African Premier Soccer League club, Platinum Stars. The central defender has been on the South African club’s radar in recent months and they have stepped up their interest in him by inviting him for trials.
Stars have notified BDF XI of their intention to take a closer look at the player. As it stands, his club will make the final decision on whether or not to avail him for the proposed trial. Stars’ request requires Gaolaolwe to attend trials during the first week of December, the player’ trial would clash with his week long training schedule at BDF XI since the league is still ongoing.

A source close to the player informed Gazette Sport that Stars’ chairman Clifford Ramoroa has inquired multiple times about Gaolaolwe in recent months and he is keen to sign him.

This publication understands that the former MTN 8 champions are looking to assess him on trial first because their recent transfer acquisitions from the beMOBILE Premiership, except Mogakolodi Ngele, have struggled to make a lasting impact on the team.

Patrick Kaunda, signed from FC Satmos, was played out of position and had limited first team chances before being loaned to BDF XI, Terrence Mandaza struggled to reach the standards he set in Botswana before joining the club and Kabelo Dambe’s contract was terminated during the off season.
Stars could have an advantage in their talks with BDF XI since both clubs exchanged pleasantries during the loan transfer of Kaunda in August. Local rivals Orapa United’s interest in Gaolaolwe is well documented but the army side would rather lose his services to a foreign club as opposed to selling him to a local club.
BDF XI chairman Christopher Mbaakanyi could not confirm nor deny Gaolaolwe’s reported trial at Stars but noted that they would not stand in his way if an opportunity to move abroad arises. Mbaakanyi stated that contrary to the statements made by the above mentioned source, BDF XI are the ones who made an agreement with Stars to take one of their players on loan whenever they see fit.

“We made an arrangement with Platinum Stars to take any of our players on loan, as far as I am concerned they have not made direct contact with the player.  If they decide to take Mosha then we will allow him to test himself at Stars, we will not close doors on any of our players if better offers come their way,” Mbaakanyi added.

Mbaakanyi concluded by confirming that they rejected a “ridiculous bid” from South African first division side Highlands Park during the off season.
