How the 2015 festive season went down!

Home Coming -Mahalapye
Over the past 5years, the Home Coming Festival in Mahalapye which usually takes place on the eve of Christmas has been attracting crowds from all over the country. This year however, many fans of the show were left disappointed as one of the main acts Cassper Nyovest did not turn up after promises that he would! On the night of the event, Nyovest was performing in Mafikeng at the Fresh Prince of Maftown event, and wrote on his Facebook that “Botswana, it is with regret that I have to tell you that I will not be coming to the show today because of money issues with the promoter. I was really looking forward to the show because Botswana has love for the boy but it’s out of my hands. I need to make a trip soon.”

Clap Your Hands- Palapye
Another successful crowd puller, Clap Your Hands took place in Palapye last month. All the artists in the lineup showed up, and there was a healthy mix of local and foreign artists. However in a disappointing incident of the night, Oneal Madumo  who is usually a crowd favourite was pelted with bottles and chased off stage. Other performers such as Sasa Klaas, Franix, MMP Family, Busiswa, Dr Malinga were welcomed by the crowd. “This is not the first time that I am performing in Botswana, let alone the north. I have been to Serowe and Palapye. It is always a joy performing for Batswana, they support a lot of South African music, and for that we will always be grateful,” says Dr Malinga.

Pop Bottles Serowe
Following James Ratshosa and ATI split in 2014, the two went on to do separate events in 2015 on the same day in Serowe. ATI left Ratshosa with Pop Bottles and went on to form a new event called Togetherness hosted at the Serowe Stadium while Pop Bottles moved to My Destiny farm a few kilometres away from Serowe. However despite popularity of Pop Bottles, there was a low turn out for last year’s show which boasted an all local line up inclusive of Zeus, MMP Family, Vee, Scar along with others.
