Botswana International Omaatla Kebatho says he is open to move back to the beMOBILE Premiership after struggling with life in his first season with South African First Division side Vasco Da Gama. Kebatho joined the former Premier Soccer League (PSL) side last year from Maun outfit Sankoyo Bush Bucks, following his impressive showing in the 2015 edition of the COSAFA Castle Cup which was hosted in South Africa.
As part of his brilliant display at the tournament, the former Ecco City Greens striker scored against runners up Mozambique in a semi final clash despite Zebras losing on the day.
The Zebras forward has found life a bit difficult at the Cape Town side, struggling with both injuries and lack of game time, which has resulted in him and his agent (Paul Mitchell) considering options of possibly ‘jumping off the ship’.
In a brief interview with Gazette Sport last week, Siyavamu CEO Paul Mitchell revealed that he and his client were still weighing their options, before a decision is taken on the player’s next move. “At the moment there is nothing concrete, we are just assessing and we will make a decision after,” said Mitchell.
Pushed a bit further on whether or not the 23-year could be moving back to Botswana next season, the Briton agent answered, “As I say we are looking at the options.” Adding to his manager’s sentiments, Kebatho also told this publication that he was open to a possible move back home.
“I am currently back home, and yet to decide anything at moment, Paul (Mitchell) is dealing with everything, and I believe we will decide soon, but personally I would not mind a move back home,” said Kebatho.
The striker however could not be drawn to giving more insights on his latest, citing that Mitchell was the better placed to make comments.
Despite being coy on revealing more details, Gazette Sport has gathered that there is growing of interest of the player in the local league on a possible loan deal.
Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Gaborone United are believed to be keeping a closer eye on the situation. Chiefs are said to be keen on finding a prolific goal getter ahead of the new season, while the Moyagolele are preparing for life without Namibian striker Benson Shilongo with a potential move to the PSL on the cards. Jwaneng Galaxy are also rumored to be in the race for the striker.
