Chiefs confirm signing of former trio

2015/16 beMobile Premiership runners up Mochudi Centre Chiefs have confirmed the signing of three of their former star players in Jerome Ramatlhakwana, Phenyo Mongala and Noah Maposa. The Kgatleng giants lost a number of several key players at the end of last season, such as Lemponye Tshireletso, Tendai Nyumasi and retired veterans Pontsho Moloi and Onalethata Tshekiso, but with such high profile departures, many expected the local giant to respond in some fashion in the transfer market, which was not the case.
Instead, Magosi have been quiet with their transfer activities, owing to the fact that the club has been experiencing a fair share of financial troubles, after investors, the Jamali family decided to walk out of the club, and also the league final play off delaying the team’s preparations for the new season.
Despite this, the Mochudi outfit this past weekend finally revealed several ‘exciting’ names that will be joining the club for the new league season, with the former trio included.
A statement from the club confirmed the news. “2016/2017: Players that have joined the club are Jerome Ramatlhakwana and Phenyo Mongala on loan from Don Bosco, Noah Maposa (free agent formerly Township Rollers), Allen Ndodole from Nico United, Stanley Ngala from Bulawayo Chiefs (Zimbabwe), Remmington Masuku from Tsholotsho (Zimbabwe), Charles Mutero (unattached) and Goitseone Lekgopelo (Pilikwe United). More to follow as the window is still open till the 9th September 2016,” read the statement.
According to information gathered by this publication, adding to the list would have been Zebras star striker Thabang Sesinyi who returned back home despite recently signing for South African Premier Soccer League rookies Baroka FC. However, they were beaten by Jwaneng Galaxy to the signature of the player. It is believed that Chiefs and the player had agreed terms, but a delay in terms of honoring the agreement with ‘free agent’ player opened a room for the Jwaneng side to capitalize.
With the club confirming a possibility for more players arriving, Gazette Sport has it on good authority that Zambian striker Felix Sunzu and B.R Highlanders first choice keeper Ookeditse Semelamela are the most likely players to join the club.
As previously reported, Chiefs management have been to Zambia on a number of occasions to attempt to lure the experienced sunzu, and it is said that an agreement is on the verge of occurring, while for Semelamela, relegated BR Highlanders are believed to have demanded P20,000 for the services of the player.
Chiefs are in desperate need of a new shot-stopper with reports indicating that veteran first choice keeper Raphael Nthwane is set to hang his playing boots before the start of the season for a role as the team’s goalkeeper trainer.
The club has acquired the services of Zimbabwean gaffer Bafana Mafu, and will get their new league campaign underway with a trip to Selebe Phikwe to face hoodoo side Nico United on the 10th of September.
