BTC Premiership rookies Security Systems could soon complete the signings of Onalethata Tshekiso and Keabetswe Jenamiso as the club looks to retain their status in the elite league. After suffering a major set back in 2012, that saw the Tlokweng side suspended from the top flight just after gaining promotion, due to failure to pay their regional affiliation fees.
The side made their return to the elite league this season, and is keen on making a lasting impression. At the start of the season, the club unveiled a number of new players, including several well established league campaigners in Tumelo Mazebedi, Mgicini Sibanda (Both ex Orapa United) and Willie Gaotewe (ex Gaborone United).
The rookies are experiencing a respectable start to life in the Premiership, collecting four points out of a possible nine in their opening three rounds of fixtures.
The club’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Thomas Motswakhumo, last week revealed that the team has already started recruiting possible potential new signings to ensure the side cements its status in the league.
“We have noticed that there are certain areas which we believe we need to beef up. The team is really lacking in terms of experience in some positions, and we are in the process of finding people who are able to come into the team to beef up on what we currently have,” said Motswakhumo.
The PRO revealed that the side has made contact with former Mochudi Centre Chiefs striker Tshekiso over the possibility of him joining the side.
“We have been in contact with OT (Tshekiso) over the possibility of adding him to our squad, and I would say we are at an advanced stage of securing his services. The player is open to join us (Systems), he was even present when we played Gunners (last week’s midweek game against Extension Gunners) with our players at the National Stadium. The truth is that we are in need of a player of his class and experience upfront,” he added.
“We believe we can offer him a one year contract, to help us stay up this season. We are also on the look out for an experienced center back. Currently we have Gaotewe and Kago Nfila playing in that department, but we need more cover there,” he gave.
In closing, Motswakhumo divulged that the club had also been in contact with Chiefs defender Jenamiso who was not registered for the 2016/17 season. The former Ecco City Greens defender broke his leg last season, and has been out of action for more than six months.
Chiefs say Jenamiso was not registered because he would only be fit to play again in January, and some considerations would be made to register him at the start of the second round of the season. Clifford Mogomotsi had to say the following on the player. “He is still a Chiefs player, he was not registered because he is still injured, he just recently returned for light training. We will make considerations to register him in January. I am not sure on the length of his contract with Chiefs, but he is still our player,” said Mogomotsi.
