Moyo terminates Notwane contract

Notwane defender Thulani Moyo has been granted his wish after successfully terminating his contract with the Gaborone based club. The Zimbabwean player received his clearance last week and left the club with immediate effect.
The Footballers’ Union of Botswana (FUB)’s head of communications, Kgosana Masaseng, confirmed the news in an interview with Gazette Sport. According to Masaseng, the player has left the club and has already courted interest from two Zimbabwean clubs, one such club is Platinum FC.

The defender is widely tipped to join the Zimbabwean title contenders; the rich club is currently placed in fourth place and only three points behind the log leaders in the Zimbabwean league. “He has been officially released from his contract. We expect him to find a club soon because he attracted interest from his home based clubs in a short space of time,” confirmed the FUB spokesperson.

Moyo was amongst four foreign players who are currently looking for an escape route from the club due to poor player welfare. His countryman, Tafadzwa Kutinyu, is still left in limbo alongside South African duo Benedict Vilakazi and Manqoba Ngwenya. The 18-year-old Kutinyu was signed during the off-season from Zimbabwean side Power Masters.

The FUB has stated that the Zimbabwean under 20 national team has called up for the youngster and he will be released for national team duty. The club’s mother body met the FUB on Sunday to allow the player to report for national team camp, he will be free to report for national duty.

Masaseng also revealed that they are yet to hear from Toronto’s executive chairman Gift Mogapi. He stated that Mogapi had promised to meet the FUB last week Thursday but never showed up, hence little progress made over other cases involving Notwane players because Mogapi has not returned their phone calls.

Information reaching this publication revealed that the club’s whole squad has written a letter of complaint to the players’ union with the aim of terminating their contractual agreement with Mogapi. Masaseng acknowledged that he has come across reports that the players have been advised to reverse their contracts with Notwane FC and negotiate new contracts to safeguard their welfare.
