Veezo nominated for ‘Best music video’ in Metro FM Music Awards

Local hip-hop artist Luvuyo Lejowa popularly known as Veezo in the music industry has been nominated  in the South African Metro FM Music Awards under  the  category of ‘Best Music Video’ for his song Money, Sex, Clothes, Girls . The awards are scheduled to take place on the 1st of March.
“I am truly grateful by the recognition I have received from the Metro FM Music Awards. The nomination not only says that people value my work as an artist, but in my case this is a nomination acknowledging the work I put in as well as that of the rest of the team I work with. As an artist I always strive to push boundaries within the industry. I’m appreciative of the fact that this was  made possible by my current home, Muthaland Entertainment, which  always encourages  and gives its artists the space to take risks,” said the South African record label Muthaland Entertainment signee in an interview with Time Out.

The other nominees in the category include Da Les- Heaven, Khuli Chana- Mnatebawen, iFani-Milli and Donald –Your Joy. “It is a tough category. I am pitted against more well known acts in the industry, but fortunately the public will not vote because of popularity but on the merit of one’s work,” he said.
When explaining the concept of the music video Veezo said, “When we decided on the concept for the video and the creative direction, we all realized that we were going to undertake an enormous project that has not been done before on the continent. All parties involved from the director to featured vixens came to the plate. The final product ended looking visually impressive. Though I knew that the video was good, a first of its kind in Africa, I didn’t know what reaction it will receive from the audience. The day we exclusively dropped it on popular urban music show, Club 808, I was a ball of anxious energy. The feedback that came was expressively positive and people seemed to understand the creative direction we took.”

Veezo started his career at the age of 18 back  in Botswana. His first radio single titled “Young and Fresh” with a guest appearance by a high school friend and fellow solo recording artist, Young Slugz went all the way to number one on the Mascom top twenty chart on Yarona FM. The duo later recorded a remix, which featured Scar and Stagga. He has also made it to the number 1 spot  on C-lives Hip Hop Power Nights, and has been on heavy rotation on other major radio stations like Yfm and Metro fm.

“The support from the fans is awe-inspiring. I appreciate them and they deserve the best from me and that is exactly what they will get in my upcoming album “VISA”(Veezo Is So Ahead),” he concluded.
