Maposa in talks with United FC

Gaborone United captain Noah Maposa is in talks with South African club United FC. The National First Division side expressed their interest in the goalkeeper last week and they have been granted permission to negotiate a deal with the Moyagoleele skipper.

Maposa travelled to Kimberly on Monday to discuss personal terms with his prospective suitors. GU informed Gazette Sport that the Kimberly based club made an inquiry last week and followed up their interest by making a firm offer for the Zebras goalkeeper.

“They want to sign him. He is discussing personal terms with United FC. We gave them the go ahead to speak to him because they followed the right steps after informing us of their interest. The deal is not yet complete thus we have not  set a fee for him, we are awaiting the outcome of the talks between the player and United FC,” GU’s Herbert Letsebe confirmed.

If the negotiations prove successful, both clubs will meet again to discuss a transfer fee. Maposa has two years remaining in his current contract and  will therefore command a fee as a result.

Maposa could have moved to South Africa last year after Thanda Royal Zulu  showed interest in him  but the deal failed to materialize. Thanda had invited the player for trials but their reluctance to organize transport and accommodation arrangements for the player resulted in his club’s refusal to release him. The Zebras stopper had a stint at Bay United (now called Polokwane City) in 2009. He always harbored dreams of returning to South Africa and could make his dream a reality if he agrees personal terms with United FC.
