Bonnie for Big Brother?

Duma Fm presenter Bonnie Dintwa recently announced on twitter that he was leaving radio. The 15 year radio veteran who hosts the afternoon drive show Speedin’ resignation comes a few days after Gaborone Big Brother auditions. It was  around this time last year that another radio personality Zibanani O’Neal Madumo left  radio unexpectedly only to surface at  Big Brother.

 
Bonnie confirmed he was leaving radio but declined to give reasons, “Yes, I am leaving radio. My last show will be on the 31st of this month (July) but unfortunately I can’t say where I’m going nor whether I will still be doing radio or not.”  he said.  “All I can say is that, no I will not be going to do radio in South Africa nor will I be joining Owen in Zambia. Bonnie further refuted speculation that he was going to be on Big Brother. “I don’t do reality television shows. I have no interest in them.” He said. O’Neal, who is Bonnie’s close friend, also denied that he was going to Big Brother.

 
Multichoice Botswana Public Relations Manager Tshepo Maphanyane also declined to give a hint as to whether Bonnie was Botswana’s representative at BBA, “Speculation is a big part of the Big Brother show. It is what makes it exciting,” she said.  Maphanyane confirmed that the final selection of potential representatives but said she was not aware of who they were. “A group of potential representatives is being considered. As it stands, I am not aware of any individuals who have been selected.”  Maphanyane said. She said her involvement was in facilitating processes but she was not part of the selection process. “All I can do is wish whoever made it in all the best. Celebrity or not, because after all Big Brother is open to everyone.”  This year’s Big Brother show will start on the 7th of September and entrants from 14 African countries will enter the Big Brother House. Angola has been replaced by newcomer Rwanda.
