Earth Hour Commemoration

Botswana will once again join the rest of the world to observe Earth Hour, a Global Climate Change Campaign. The event calls on all nations of the world to take action against the dangerous Global Warming and Climate Change. Earth Hour will be observed on the 28th of March from 8:30-9:30pm (at night) under the theme “Change not Climate Change” and lights across the world (Botswana included) will switch off for one hour.

In Botswana, prior to Earth Hour commemorations the WENA Environmental Education and News  Trust in collaboration with climate change and agricultural experts will hold workshops with farmers on Climate Smart Agriculture on how the country can adapt and mitigate climate change in the agricultural sector.

In Botswana, climate change is already having an impact on agriculture and food security as a result of increased prevalence of extreme events and weather unpredictability. At the same time, agriculture contributes to producing Green House Gas emissions. There will be other Earth Hour activities and this will be communicated with your media house.
