Township Rollers and Zebras goalkeeper Mwampule Masule has been cleared to resume action for the Gaborone outfit following his suspension. The goalkeeper was suspended last month after the club suggested that he went for trials in South Africa without their approval.

Masule attracted interest from newly promoted Absa Premiership sides Black Leopards and Highlands Park as both clubs had scouted him during the 2018 COSAFA Cup. He reportedly joined up with the Highlands Park team to undergo trials but this happened without the approval and knowledge of head coach Nikola Kavazovic.

The coach was irritated by the player’s actions and told the media that he had only fielded Masule in the Al Ahly away trip because of the injury situation in the goalkeeping department at the time. Kavazovic even went to the extent of telling the media that the player was suspended for a month with a fine that would cost him half of his month’s salary.

Masule was scheduled to return to action by the end of August but the club’s management held talks on Monday and decided to lift the player’s suspension. He is now able to return to training and resume first team action.

“Township Rollers FC management have waived the suspension of our team goalkeeper Mwampule Masule and he is scheduled to resume training with immediate effect,” an official club statement read on Monday.

Rollers spokesperson Bafana Pheto referred all of Gazette Sport’s inquiries to club president Jagdish Shah when reached for comment. Team manager Motsholetsi Mafa’s phone rang unanswered.
