Having previously tackled such matters of social conversation as “Leadership: the special ingredients of a leader”, “Pioneers” and “Paving the way for the next 40,” the final instalment of the intellectual series proved to be its most bold. As part of its Top 40 Under 40 campaign, St Louis Export upped the ante on Thursday 26th September 2013 with its most hot button topic to date: ‘Gender in leadership.’
Aimed at tackling the great divide on women making it in a male dominated society, the latest theme was the platform’s most popular, providing great insight and creating an opportunity for some playfully sparring. The forum was once again held at Lansmore Masa Square before an packed audience of repeat attendees eager to hear forward thinkers and speakers exchange ideas.
The panel of speakers comprised of HIV specialist Dr Ava Avalos, writer and student Siyanda Mohutsiwa, marketing professional Tonderai Tsara of Dialogue Saatchi and Saatchi, Director of Brand Botswana Ludo Mokotedi and local entrepreneur Kagiso Kwelagobe of 03 beverages.
“The topic of discussion at the fourth Crystal Chats on gender in leadership is one which the St Louis Export brand is proud to be associated with. We not only encourage both young men and women to strive for success, but also bring to light to the fact that when we work together regardless of gender, we build strong men and women who in turn build a strong Botswana,” said KBL’s Premium Beer Marketing Manager, Ms. Amakura Erbynn.
In continued efforts to encourage the youth to strive for excellence, the Crystal Chat recognised and celebrated the men and women who have empowered themselves, as well as each other. The platform for intellectual debate, as it has fast become, aimed to hone in on that special ingredient that has seen a more harmonious bridge between the genders in comparison to their African counterparts.
Erbynn concluded, “we anticipated that this was likely to be the most popular topic to date with our audience, and that proved to be the case. It was a thoroughly insightful evening full of learning, and a great deal of genuine, discerning debate.”
