In an effort to account for the money which is usually donated by KFC customers following complaints by some members of the public, KPMG’s Nigel Dixon-Warren says they will not be stopping the initiative and are in the process of reconciling all the funds they have collected in their stores.
“We are in the process of reconciling all funds collected by the KFC operations over the last couple of years, and comparing to the costs of the various activities that have been conducted. Once this process is complete, any unutilised funds will be placed in a separate bank account which we are in the process of opening. These funds, together with donations collected post the liquidation date, will continue to be utilised for the various charitable activities,” he said.
Dixon-Warren says they will in due course publish the activities of the Add Hope initiative to make the public aware of how their funds are being used.  “The funds are utilised to support various charitable initiatives throughout the country. Historically, the stores have taken turns to conduct a charitable activity each month. This has been done utilising the funds collected under the Add Hope scheme,” he explained.
The six year campaign was first launched in South Africa, followed by Botswana and then Namibia, with plans to launch it in other African countries where there is KFC.
