On the 5th of September at Seepapitso Secondary School, there will be a Cultural Beauty Pageant starting at 1900 hours.

“Tourism has always been associated with the northern parts of Botswana. So we want to show that tourism is not only about the wildlife but other aspects like culture. Bangwaketse in this instance we mean Goo Kodisa after Thamaga up to Phitshane-Molopo.  Bakgatla ba ga Mmanaana, Bahurutshe, Bakgalagadi, Barolong and Bangwaketse who live in this area are of course included,” said the Mmakgodumo Heritage and Cultural Festival, Publicity Secretary Osenotse Mabote.

Mabote added that the festival will be packed with cultural activities; performances and those in attendance will learn Ngwaketse culture and heritage.
“Our theme for this year’s festival is “Ngwao yame, mokgabo wame.” This event is to revive Ngwaketse culture and will feature traditional food, attire, songs, poetry, dance, dikgafela, mephato and bird viewing,” Mabote said.

The main sponsors for the event are Botswana Tourism Organisation, FNB and Ministry of Sports, Youth and Culture.
