Samantha Mogwe works with Robbie Malinga on Debut album

Neo-soul artist Samantha Mogwe is said to be working with South African producer Robbie Malinga on her   debut album scheduled to be released sometime mid-year. The album will be released in Botswana and South Africa and will also be available for purchase digitally on iTunes.

Acting on the suggestion of Universal Music to give the album a ‘South African feel’ so as to appeal to the country’s nationals, one of the songs on the album will be produced by renowned South African producer, singer and songwriter Robbie Malinga.

Malinga has produced for major hit stars such as Zahara and Kelly Khumalo and has also worked with legends the likes of Stimela, Jabu Khanyile, and Nhlanhla of Mafikizolo on her solo career.
According to the 26 -year -old songstress’ management, the long awaited album will be distributed by Universal Music South Africa; a deal secured through the singer’s record label Groove Cartell/TCM/Lekoko.

Seabelo Modibe, one of the record label managers confirmed in an interview with Time Out that Samantha’s album is indeed complete and set to be available for sale mid-year 2014. “Samantha started recording mid 2013 and her album will be completed by end of February 2014 and sent for final mixing and mastering,” he said.

Asking why the album was not released the previous year, Modibe clarified that, “Samantha’s album involves a lot of session musicians who play various instruments. She also works with her songwriter to compose songs so this is not a one man show. There are no problems with Samantha’s album or release date, we are working round the clock to get the album complete and released.”
According to an update on Samantha’s Groove Cartell’s Facebook page, the bubbling under singer will feature on house group Groove Cartell’s soon to be released EP, So Far So Gone, which will be available on international House music site Traxsource.com where they have previously topped the chart at number one with hit house track You got me Singing, which also featured Samantha.
