Sandaka enjoying resurgence

BMC forward Sageby Sandaka is on an impressive run of form this season. The player has recaptured his goal scoring instincts that had deserted him last season; he is currently on a hot scoring streak that has catapulted him to a place among the league’s top scorers. He joined BMC from Gaborone United after a disappointing 2012/13 season.

Earlier this year the player was overshadowed by reports of indiscipline and failing to break into GU’s first choice line up. In March, the player was arrested on allegations of fraud and Moyagolelele was prompted to suspend him. His suspension was lifted a few weeks later but he struggled to make an impact in GU’s first team. He was subsequently sold to BMC during the off-season in a deal worth P15 000.

The move has reignited the player’s form as he has scored nine league goals in eight games plus another goal in the Mascom Top 8. Sandaka’s goal tally makes him stand out with the best goals to games ratio in the league; he has a ratio of 1.13 goals per game so far this season.
Only Bonolo Frazer (10 goals) and Patrick Kaunda (12 goals) have scored more goals than him. Frazer has played 12 games; his ratio is 0.83 goals per game while Kaunda’s ratio is 0.86 goals per game in 13 matches.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder’s goals have helped BMC improve their league position in recent weeks. Previously they were at the bottom of the log because they were still behind the rest of the league sides in terms of games played.
Experts have applauded the player with praise for his natural ability but they have also argued that off field problems have overshadowed his talent. He seems though  to have turned his fortunes around, much to the disappointment of opposing defenders who have struggled to deal with his rampant form this season.
