South African broadcasting giants, Supersport  has acquired the rights to televise the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers. They are set to televise all 50 AFCON Qualifiers starting next month, four of which will be Zebras’ live  games against their Group G opponents.

Supersport will give first preference to South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola and Zambia by featuring all six of their home and away games during the Qualifiers, the South African broadcasters confirmed on their website last week Friday.

They  also confirmed that they will feature two thirds of Botswana qualifying games (four games).  The broadcasting channel is  yet to officially release the television schedule but this publication understands that they could televise Zebras’ first match against Tunisia.

On average, seven games will be televised during the match weekends and will be broadcast across four channels; SS3 (203 and 223), SS4 (204), SS5 (205) and SS7 (207). Supersport’s pledge to televise the games will be a boost for the African continent at large; this will be the first time all AFCON Qualifiers have been televised.
Difficulties in acquiring broadcast rights in foreign countries have denied the likes of Botswana Television (BTV) the opportunity to televise away games featuring their respective national teams. Host countries often refuse to give free feeds to the visiting team’s national broadcasters and  this has resulted in BTV’s inability to televise Zebras’ away games during the preliminary stage of the AFCON Qualifiers.
