Cassper Nyovest’s manager, Taribo Seone, has pledged P200 000 towards Kast’s Tlatsa Lebala show which is expected to be held at the National Stadium in Gaborone in April.
Seone who is part owner of Bridge Entertainment, a company that manages the South African rapper told Yarona FM and RB 2 last week that, if push comes to shove he will pay P200 000 out of his pocket to pay for the Tlatsa Lebala venue.
This development follows a week where a Time Out story in which Kast revealed he turned down partnership with Cassper Nyovest rapper for the same gig- caused a social media furor with the South African saying he did not know the Botswana rapper.
This lead to a patriotic outpouring in which different people started pledging support for Kast, with some urging him to release a diss track.
“Someone has pledged to give me sound, lights and a stage for free and HRDC has also shown interest in supporting Tlatsa Lebala. We are yet to finalise their support. I have also met the Sports Council to reach a new agreement; this is just to mention a few. The support is amazing and I am grateful,” he said, also stressing that he would be going ahead with his 1000km walk to Maun for which he also says he is attracting massive support.
He however said he would not be releasing a diss track: “I am not in that state of mind. I am trying to be as positive as possible and focus on changing the mindset of people and educating them about my initiative which is for the greater good of our music industry.”
Kast was also adamant that Cassper Nyovest knew him as the latter used to frequent Botswana “before he blew up” in the industry, “We were never really friends or hung out but he knew there was a Motswana artist called Kast. It was obvious he knew me,” he said.
He said that Cassper’s tweet may just have been an off the cuff reaction to Time Out’s headline of the story. “We have never had beef and I can confirm that we are at peace,” he said. This is despite the South African rapper reiterating in a Facebook comment that he did not know him. “I actually don’t. It has nothing to do with Botswana hip hop. I even had Faded Gang performing at my party last year just to show Botswana hip hop love. I just don’t know the dude. No offense,” he wrote.
His manager had, however, not responded to questions by this publication and his phone did not go through by print time.
