The Black African Poets Organization in collaboration with the University of Botswana will host its third celebration of World Poetry Day. The commemoration slated for 21st March 2019 from 0800hrs to 1430hrs at old Naledi Grounds will run under the theme Teme Yame Sekano sa me where various works by local poets will be featured.
“Objectives of World poetry Day are to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities,” said the chairperson of the Black African Poets, Lebalerona Dumelang.
The event is supported by Ministry of Youth empowerment, Sports and Culture Development, United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) while Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and University of Botswana Department Of African Languages and Literature are partners of the event.
