Yarona FM station manager Kelly Ramputswa stated that the station was continuing its mission to grow and appreciate Botswana music, “From our founding days, our aim has always been to be a catalyst for urban music and the 4th YAMAs are all about that, propelling Botswana music a step further. I am truly excited to see some of our performers on the night, Yaw Bannerman, Veezo, ATI, Amantle Brown, Juju Boy and many more,” said Ramputswa who said this year’s awards will come with a twist. “There is always an opportunity to do it bigger and better, it is for that reason that we will have guest appearances by some of the biggest artists in the region, Khuli Chana and HHP.” She said having the two-award winning South African musicians at the ceremony was intended to showcasing the YAMA’s growth into an international event. “It’s important to have such big stars grace us with their presence, it’s an opportunity for us to show them our talents and provide a unique networking platform that can help our artists reach greater heights.” The station manager called on fans of Botswana music to come witness the awarding of the best of Botswana music. “We want the fans to come and be part of the show as they play a pivotal role in making these artists the stars they are, we also promise them a fantastic show.” The nominee list is a reflection of how good the year 2017 was in terms of quality music releases, for instance, the converted song of the year title, is a tough battle as Amantle Brown / Juju Boy’s Follo goes up against A.T.I / Legacy DG / Yung Amazing’s Khiring Khiring Khorong, Bangu’s Hani Mubone, Dj Anthem / Skavenja’s Monyopi and Veezo / Yaw Bannerman’s Zaka.
