Mogopodi writes off Notwane’s promotional hopes

Notwane coach George Mogopodi has conceded the club has no chance of gaining automatic promotion to the BTC Premiership after the stalemate draw against Mogoditshane Fighters this past weekend.
The result leaves Toronto languishing outside top five places while they trail Debswana First Division South leaders Sharps Electrical by 10 points in the promotional race.
“Let us be realistic we have six games to go and we have 23 points, if you want to do something put everything in place. Don’t deceive yourself as a person, supporters are shouting we want to go Premier League, but do we have everything in place?”,Notwane coach George Mogopodi vented out in an interview with Gazette Sport..
“Today we saw him substituting our best player on the pitch Thato Mogorosi early in the second half, a move which raises eyebrows. Our team captain is on the bench for 90 minutes and one of the senior heads among the group Bakang Moeng was left out of such an important match,” one club insider told this reporter during the match.
The result deepened the rut on Notwane’s Jekyll and Hyde campaign, which has seen them produce some of the finest passing football in between matches and dreadful ones since the turn of the year. Their title challenge has floundered after taking just seven points out of the 15 on offer since the start of the second round.
Quizzed on his mandate to get Toronto back into the BTC Premiership, Mogomotsi stated that he does not have resources to accomplish a target of such magnitudes.
“You can only set a target for someone who has resources in place, and say this is your target and this is what I am giving you. But do we seriously have the resources to go to the Premiership. We have dropped points every now and then so our dreams have slowly diminished so it was always going to be impossible,”Mogopodi concluded.
