The Zebras international Mogakolodi Ngele is yet to make up his mind in exteding his stay at South African based outfit Black Leopards, Gazette Sport has learnt.
“Tsotso,” as Ngele is better known, joined Leopards at the beginning of the current season after enduring at tough spell at champions Mamelodi Sundowns where he spent much of the time on loan or completely ignored. More disappointment seemed to follow him to Leopards as he was used twice within his first six months with the team.
However, things turned around for “Tsotso” earlier this year when Cavin Johnson joined the Limpopo-based team. Johnson’s arrival saw “Tsotso” starting to enjoy more game time in such way that he scored his first goal after almost 18 months against Kaizer Chiefs late January.
Even when Johnson parted ways with the team, Ngele went on to be an influential member of the first team as he featured in 11 of 14 encounters that his team played this year in all compoetitions. He scored twice and provided two assits.
Now, Leopards could be at risk of losing the lanky midfileder who has since regained form as according to South African soccer publication Soccer Laduma. According to the publication, Leopards are keen on retaining Ngele on an extended contract. However, indications are that the Ngele has not made up his mind on staying beyond the current season with the club, as things stand, the publication reports.
Leopards are currently situated at the bottom of the ABSA premiership with 20 points after 24 games.
Meanwhile, Ngele has scored 36 goals in in 136 matches that he played in South Africa in all competitions, which makes him the record Motswana scorer in the ABSA premiership. He also has 19 assists to his name in the more than six years that he has been in South Africa.
