Gaborone United coach Rodolfo Zapata has confirmed his club’s pursuit of soon to be  free agent forward Joel Mogorosi as they aim to bolster their attacking options for next season. Zapata has never hidden his admiration for the Zebras captain and has already outlined his plans to have him signed up before he returns from his native Argentina.
Zapata informed this publication that he harbours dreams of a front three of Tumisang Orebonye, Kabelo Seakanyeng and Mogorosi. The club struggled on the offensive side of the field and the Argentine coach has identified the attacking area as a priority in terms of adding reinforcements.
Mogorosi’s experience is viewed as a key component in what Zapata is trying to build, the coach is renowned for giving young players a chance to shine but he has admitted that adding experience could be the perfect blend.
“It is my wish for my team to play with Seakanyeng, Orebonye and Joel up front. I left a list of 10 players that I like and the chairman Rapula is working on it,” Zapata told Gazette Sport.
GU scored 36 league goals last season, a large chunk of the goals were scored by top scorer Orebonye (16 goals). Orebonye scored 44 percent of the club’s goals and was the only one in double figures in terms of league goals, the coach is wary of the fact that solely relying on Orebonye again could leave them short again in their pursuit of an elusive title triumph.
The next best goal tally belonged to Seakanyeng who scored six league goals. Mogorosi did not enjoy his best season as he scored only three goals for Township Rollers last season, however that could be attributed to limited opportunities and a change of coaches midway through the season.
