GU on standby as Nato’s agent seeks European move

Gaborone United are anxiously waiting to find out whether or not they will land Ofentse Nato on loan during the current January transfer window, this publication has established that Nato’s agent, Paul Mitchell is circulating the player’s CV in Europe with the hope of finding a club for him.

This publication had previously reported that GU were already at an advanced stage to land Nato on another temporary agreement but the deal appears to have been halted, for now, as the player seeks a European club that could help him catch the attention of his parent club Atletico Madrid.

Atletico de Kolkata is in partnership with the Madrid based club, as a result Nato was expected to join their B-team which plies its trade in the fourth division of Spanish football when his spell in India elapses.

Playing in the fourth tier would make it difficult for the Spanish club to monitor his progress thus his agent’s decision to help him find a European club that plays at a higher and more competitive level.

GU chairman Okaile Rapula told Gazette Sport that they are “on standby” as the midfielder’s agent continues to seek clubs for his client in France and Spain.
“We are still in contact with his agent but they have informed us that the player’s first preference is a move to either France or Spain. We believe we will be his first option if no European clubs show interest in him. We are on standby as it stands,” revealed the GU chairman.

Nato could also be transferred when the January transfer window as he is regarded a free agent since the Indian Super League will resume in September.
