GOSEGO MOTSUMI

Yarona FM’s recent lineup change has sent tongues wagging, and below are views from some of the country’s top entertainment pundits.

DJ Sid:
“For Izzy, it is a good reward for good work for him to be on the afternoon drive. I have also had the pleasure of listening to M.O.G., he is good, a future breakfast or drive presenter. For Dollar, unless he asked for that show, it’s a painful demotion for me, from Drive to Breakfast and then to a borderline non-primetime show on a Friday. But I suspect he asked to be relieved of the hectic Monday to Friday Show so he could do other things.”

DJ Sid on Robbi Rob’s return:
“Today’s 18 year olds know nothing about Robin, he is going to come across as an adult and may not connect well with the slaying and lit up 18-25 year olds. It may be an attempt at growth for the station, but for me, it is no growth for Robbie, he should instead have gone to Gabz FM.” Sid is however adamant that Robbin remains a great presenter.
Seabelo Modibe:
“It is too early to judge but all eyes and ears are on that Breakfast show because Dollar-Mac was a larger than life character so anyone stepping on his shoes needs to do 10 times more than him,” he said.

Rapper Thato Scar Matlhabaphiri:
“I have no interest in things that are under 30, as long as they play my music.”
For her part, Station Manager, Kelly Ramputswa said the changes were influenced by listener feedback.
“Our listeners today, have different needs and demands, they want a station that speaks to their aspirations while keeping up with trends. This is what continues to make us relevant in keeping with our tagline Live the Music,” she said.
The station’s new strategy known as Aspiration, Relevant and Trendsetting (A.R.T) will also see in content. “We want that young entrepreneur to know that we have information that can help them do better business while we still want to be playing the latest hits for a university student looking for great music.”
