As of the 5th October, 2018 Seed Co International Limited (Seed Co) has listed its shares on the Botswana Stock Exchange Limited (BSEL) and shares started trading at the opening of the market at 0955hrs.
This is a primary listing by waay of introduction of the issued share capital of Seed Co, comprising of 379,331,127 of ordinary shares on the Main Board of the BSEL.
Seed Co is a leading certified seed company authorized to market seed varieties developed by itself, government and other associated seed breeders in over fifteen (15) African countries. The company is involved in the breeding, multiplication and distribution of mainly hybrid seed varieties.
Seed Co is a financially powerful pan African seed maker. During the 2018 financial reporting period, the company made over P6 billion in revenue, while profits for the period exceeded P45 million.
Seed Co International was incorporated on 7 July 2000 in Botswana under the International Financial Services Centre. It is registered under company registration number 2000/3152. The Company was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seed Co Limited, a company incorporated and domiciled in Zimbabwe, until 9 August 2018 when the shareholders of Seed Co Limited approved the unbundling and separate listing of Seed Co International. Seed Co International was partially-unbundled through a dividend-in- specie of its shares to Seed Co Limited shareholders. Seed Co Limited retained a 26 percent shareholding in Seed Co International. Seed Co International is a holding company of seed businesses in various countries falling under the “Seed Co” brand in Africa, excluding Zimbabwe.
