Bokani Dyer embarks on a SADC tour

Celebrated Motswana Jazz pianist Bokani Dyer will embark on a 10 day tour in mid February of selected Southern African venues, performing in Gaborone, Maputo and Johannesburg with a newly formed trio featuring an exciting combination of leading young South African musicians. His troupe includes Shane Cooper (bass), who won a SAMA for best Jazz album in 2014 and a solid rhythm and guitar section  fronted by Marlon Witbooi of the Nomadic Orchestra based in Cape Town. The Bokani Dyer Trio will be performing in Gaborone, at Maitisong this Friday 13th February.

 
The local opening act is the four piece Jazz ensemble Soul Connect made up of Laone Thekiso on Piano, Kabelo Tumake on Bass, Khaya Groth on Drums and Gomotsegang Rapoo on Lead Guitar. According to a press statement the performance at Maitisong , is a historic event as it is Dyer’s first performance under his leadership in Botswana and in the theatre where he gave his first public piano performance.

 
Tickets for the show are available at Botswana Craft for P150 in advance and the show was made possible through the support of the Concerts SA Mobility Fund.
