Fresh fruit and vegetable juices have gained popularity worldwide with some health-conscious consumers using them as meal replacements, while others drink them as part of their cleansing routines. Health Generation, a smoothie, juice and salad bar which serves fresh juices, smoothies, salads and sandwiches opened shop at the Airport Junction Mall sometime last year to service the growing market of the health conscious. A few months down the line, the store will be opening a shop in yet another of Gaborone’s prime locations, the Central Business District (CBD).
“Health Generation is working to change people’s mindsets and promote healthy living as well as eating. We want to promote health consciousness and luckily, we have a lot of people who are now tilted towards healthy living. Sometime last year, we opened a shop in the Airport Junction Mall and recently we have opened another shop in the CBD in order to reach out to more people,” said Uyapo Ketogetswe, one of the shop’s employees. He added that, “we have collaborated efforts with Jack’s Gym which is also located in the CBD. The Health Generation shop can be found inside the gym and we saw it fitting because in essence healthy eating and living go well with keeping fit and exercising. So those who use the gym can get a healthy juice on their way out and those who are not necessarily enrolled in the gym can also pass by to get a healthy shake.”
Ketogetswe reveals that in the next two months they will be delivering the shakes and smoothies from the shop to different areas of Gaborone. “Other than deliveries, we are also looking to expand the shop to more areas in the country and even to the South African market,” he said. In Gaborone, areas such as Phakalane and other business districts are where they hope to expand.
