Big Brother Africa Hotshots winner, Idris Sultan from Tanzania will entertain comedy enthusiasts alongside local comedians at the newly rebranded Avani Gaborone Hotel & Casino this Saturday, 1st of August 2015. According to the events coordinator of Major Moves Comedy, Gaolathe Kediemetse they decided to bring Sultan because they wanted a fresh face that will bring in new content for their audience as well as share ideas with local comedians. “Having produced many shows featuring various top notch international comedians, we want to showcase new comedians whom we have not invited before. Our comedians have also been performing around the country and abroad and this is the time for them to share those experiences,” he said.
The 22 year old stand-up comedian and photographer will also be engaged in charitable projects while in the country as a way of giving back to the African continent and Botswana in particular. Sultan has also availed himself for a meet and greet session at the Rail Park Mall on Saturday morning. As he will be performing in the country for the first time, he promised hilarious, relevant and fresh materials for his audience.
The comedy show will also feature the crème dela crème of local comedy; Presidents Day Comedy champion 2015, Mawee from Gabane will perform alongside Sultan as well as Phenyo “The Master” from Mochudi. Phenyo had a great performance in South Africa at the monthly Tips & Friends Show where he was given a standing ovation. The two local comedians also performed recently at the Annual Francistown Comedy & Poetry Night and the Strictly Come Laughing Event and they impressed at both events. “They are bringing clean, high energy, fun and clever comedy to the show,” read the press brief. The comedy line up will be completed by South African comedian, Itu Bochele and Zimbabwean international, Charles Manase.
“We have had tremendous support for our past shows from both the public and the media and promise a rocking show,” said Kediemetse. Tickets for the comedy night are available at Webtickets & Spar outlets priced from P150 single and P200 double. The show starts at 7pm.
