Lights, Camera Fashion!

Fashion District BW is the latest television show that explores Botswana’s fashion industry. The fashion show which is part of Dee Zone Production’s Pula Power show airs on BTV every Saturday at 9:30pm and is the brainchild of former model Teshawn Miller who is also the show’s presenter. According to Miller the show seeks to keep our local fashion industry alive.

“This TV show is a hub for fashion lovers. The plan is to profile all local fashion industry players from all corners of the country, showcase their designs and for them to use this platform to speak out about industry issues as well as to lighten the mood as it features latest fashion trends and street style fashion. We also have bigger plans for the show as we are planning to have a Fashion Business Talk where we teach industry players to make money out of what they do, globalise their brand and educate other industry players, invite an expert in the field to encourage others to explore the industry,” he told Time Out.

The first episode of the show featured local designer Aobakwe Molosiwa of Gilded Sands who explained where he would like to see his brand in the near future. Miller briefly explained that his biggest plan for the show is to have the first ever Fashion District BW (FDBW) awards towards the end of the year. “These awards will be the first of its kind and they will be rewarding and recognizing fashion industry players. I have witnessed a lot of individualism in the industry and we are saying let us come together and do amazing things together,” Miller said.
