The recently launched teen Magazine; Sky will be ushering spring in style with a fashion show which is set to be held on the 6th of September. The fashion show whose mantra is #True Beauty will feature local designers; Mothusi Lesolle of iZaura, Aobakwe Molosiwa of Gilded Sands, GatshFros, Les Wear, all of whom have showed their collections at esteemed fashion weeks around the continent as well as internationally. The Sky#True Beauty fashion show will also feature some of Botswana’s leading musicians; Vee, Samantha Mogwe and pop sensation Ms Elte.
“Sky is a movement of girls by girls and as such, the models for the show will be Sky girls who have taken the pledge to be true to themselves. In order to find the models, Sky ran a competition where girls were invited to submit short articles about what it means to be truly beautiful. The best entrants auditioned and 15 girls were selected,” said Lorato Tebogo. She also added, on the day of the fashion show which is expected to start at 2pm, there will be exhibition stalls to keep those who will be present entertained.
Tebogo mentioned that although the creative Director of the fashion show Mothusi Lesolle had selected a few exhibitors, they were calling out to all lifestyle related exhibitors to get in contact t with them. “There are a few people who have been selected but we would like to have as more exhibitors who are doing great work. I believe platforms like the Sky Fashion show will give them a chance to also market their products and showcase what they do.” She mentioned however that, to rent a stall at the show, the exhibitors will be expected to pay a fee of P150.00 to secure it.
The models of the show make up a mix of girls of shapes, sizes and personalities and this the magazine says was a way to show young girls that beauty comes in different forms and is not just conventional. “A lot of people tend to believe that beauty is about personal appearance. True beauty in my eyes is being confident, tolerant, respectful and comfortable in the skin one is in. True beauty is about being pleasant on the inside which will transfer to the outside,” commented one of the girls who will be modeling, 17year old Tumisang Mogoge.
