Barclays Bank’s Contact Centre team recently raised funds and donated toiletries to the children at Gamodubu Child Care Centre. The team further donated clothing items to show support for the children as well as fulfill their commitment to playing an active role in uplifting venerable communities.
The relationship between Barclays Customer Service team and the Centre dates as far back as 2007 when the team provided a jungle gym and swings facility to promote fun and play for the less fortunate children. They also planted fruit trees which have matured and now supplement daily meals for the Gamodubu community.
The Deputy Chief Operating Officer at the bank, Ediretse Ramahobo spoke on Barclays bank’s strong citizenship agenda. “We play a significant role in the socio-economic development through our Corporate Social Investment and Citizenship agenda. As a development partner, we have to continuously ensure that the communities within which we operate thrive and develop. Our commitment to the broader society is demonstrated by our continued participation in, and contribution to, sustainable projects and programmes that change the lives of the underprivileged members of our communities.”
The Gamodubu centre was established in 2004 and has a compliment of more than 200 children with age ranges from 3 months to 16 years. The main aim of the centre is to alleviate poverty through the provision of shelter, food, clothes to homeless children and to provide them with basic necessities such as transportation to school and access to medical facilities when the need arises. The centre relies entirely on donations from corporate companies, individuals and volunteers to finance their daily needs.
