BDF XI already planning to extend Kaunda’s loan deal

The goal scoring form of on loan striker Patrick Kaunda has prompted BDF XI to start negotiating another loan deal for the Zimbabwean star. His current deal will expire at the end of the 2015/2016 season, the club’s chairman Christopher Mbaakanyi informed this publication that they will begin talks with Platinum Stars soon.

Kaunda is BDF XI’s top scorer this season, he has scored six goals in 13 games so far in league and cup games. His all round game appears to have improved given his increased work rate as compared to his time at FC Satmos where he was more of a goal poacher who relied on service from his fellow teammates.
The striker’s goals have helped the army side maintain a title challenge this season, they are currently third on the log and qualified for the semifinals of the Mascom Top 8.

“We always plan ahead in such situations, we want to organize another loan term for Kaunda. It will depend on Stars and what plans they have for him but we would like to believe that we would be in pole position to prolong his stay beyond this season if they allow him to go out on loan again,” the BDF XI chairman stated.

Mbaakanyi also reflected on the club’s fortune in terms of signing Kaunda ahead of other beMOBILE Premiership clubs. Kaunda was poised to sign for Mochudi Centre Chiefs after playing for the club during the Barclays Kabelano Charity Cup but the club opted to sign Mkhanyisile Siwahla, other clubs were credited with interest but BDF XI eclipsed their rivals in the pursuit of the former Green Boot winner.

“Fortunately for us he did not join Chiefs as expected. Chiefs’ decision not to sign him has reaped results for us, his contribution has been vital this season,” Mbaakanyi ended.
