Botswana Resource Sector Conference coming in June

The Botswana Resource Sector Conference (BRSC) is scheduled to take place on the 9th and 10th of June at the Gaborone International Convention Centre. Reportedly the largest annual investment conference held in Botswana, the BRSC aims to increase investment into Botswana’s resource sector and it is expected to provide an incredibly valuable networking forum for all players by bringing together Botswana resource companies, global and local institutions looking for investment opportunities, and the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources. Like previous conferences, it is expected to attract a substantial number of significant institutional investors, including asset management firms, pension funds, hedge funds, brokers and other investment specialists. This conference, which will be in its 12th year, will attract close to 350 delegates.

The agenda will comprise a mixture of presentations from resource key players and other industry experts. There will be a panel discussion session focusing on the future of Botswana’s resource sector, which is new in the BRSC agenda. The panel discussion will be chaired by Boikobo Paya, former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Minerals, and now with the Botswana International University of Science and Technology. The panelists will include Charles Siwawa, Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Chamber of Mines, Managing Director of Shumba Coal Botswana, Mashale Phumaphi, Economist with Econsult, Dr Keith Jefferis and Nchidzi Mmolawa will represent the Ministry of Minerals.

The organizers of the event invite institutional investors looking for investment opportunities in Botswana’s resource sector, resource companies with existing operations in Botswana, resource companies looking for attractive opportunities in Botswana, mining sector supply companies looking to meet their customers at a single venue, and the mining sector media to attend the event.
