Marumo linked with Platinum Stars and Golden Arrows move

Veteran Botswana goal minder Modiri Marumo is said to have attracted the interest of Premier Soccer League outfit Platinum Stars and new comers Golden Arrows. The 39 year old shot stopper recently parted ways with Polokwane City after being their first choice keeper last season, the club had a better win percentage when he was involved.

According to reports in South Africa, the goalkeeper did not return to the club for pre-season as his contract was already up and his work permit had expired at the end of May. A source close to the player has revealed that the Zebras net minder is on the wanted list of Rustenburg based Stars as well as the newly promoted Arrows.

“As far as I know he is wanted by at least two teams here (South Africa) Golden Arrows and Platinum Stars,” said the SA based source. The source said the player currently has no intentions of returning back home as he is keen to stay in the PSL.

“I do not think that he will go back to Botswana anytime soon. He previously told me that he still wants to play in the PSL for another season or two. At the moment he is still weighing his options and will probably be undecided in time for the new season,” added the informer.

He concluded by presenting the possibility of the keeper joining Chippa United with Major David Bright having joined the club as the team’s assistant coach ahead of the new season. Bright was the man responsible for introducing Marumo to South African football at Bay United in 2010.

Marumo’s links to both clubs (Arrows and Stars) could gain momentum as a result of the two PSL teams reported to be on the hunt of new goalkeepers in time for the start of the 2015/16 season. Arrows are said to be on the lookout of a “ PSL seasoned goalie” while Stars are in search of Kabelo Dambe’s back up after parting ways with Senegalese keeper Bouna Coundol.
