Segolame Boy wanted by Platinum Stars

Premier Soccer League club Platinum Stars are reportedly lining up a bid for Township Rollers forward Segolame Boy. Dikwena are targeting the Zebras player in a bid to replace Mogakolodi Ngele who will join Mamelodi Sundowns next season. South African media outlets have revealed that Stars registered their interest in the player by making scouting checks on him in recent games. The club is resigned to losing Ngele next season and they have reportedly identified Boy as a ‘like for like’ replacement for their star player.

Rollers and Stars have a fruitful relationship that has seen the Gaborone based club selling the likes of Terrence Mandaza, Phenyo Mongala, Moemedi Moatlhaping and Ngele to the PSL club in recent years. Sundowns are also keeping tabs on Boy as Gazette Sport reported previously.

One of Sundowns’ senior scouts, Russell Molefe was in attendance during Zebras’ AFCON Qualifier against Senegal and he made informal inquiries about the player.

However, the club has not made a firm offer for him. Stars could get first preference for Boy because they will be able to offer him first team football. On the other hand, Sundowns’ usual routine of loaning out young players could dent their chances of signing the player. Two other unnamed PSL clubs have also registered their interest in the exciting prospect. Rollers’ secretary general, Khumoyame Masonya informed to this publication that no club has submitted a formal offer for Boy.

“Nobody has approached us with a formal offer yet. At the moment such news are just rumors. We usually have South African scouts casting their eyes on a lot of our players but so far none of them has singled out any particular player. We would be excited if we receive a formal offer for Boy because we want our players to progress and reach higher levels. We will not stand in his way,” said Masonya.
