Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane appears to have sent a stern warning to Mogakolodi Ngele ahead of his move to the Pretoria based club next season. Mosimane praised the player’s abilities but indicated that he has one key area he has to improve in order to make an instant impact at Sundowns.
Ngele signed for the Pretoria giants earlier this season, he was loaned back to Platinum Stars for the rest of the term. Downs had previously inserted clauses that prevented their on loan players from facing them but they made an exception in Ngele’s case. The forward scored against his parent club in a league clash last month and provided an assist against them in another clash last week.
As a result, Ngele received rave reviews from Mosimane, along with a bit of advice on how to nail down a starting spot next season. The coach pointed out the player’s work rate as an area he needs to improve. Mosimane was quoted in the South African media suggesting that talent alone would not guarantee a regular place for Ngele in his first team plans, he urged the player to improve his off the ball play.
“He’s a good football player, he needs to work a little bit on his work rate because at Sundowns if you don’t work a bit harder, you can have a problem because there are a lot of quality players but he’s special, he’s got a special left foot,” Mosimane stated.
The Sundowns coach has nurtured the likes of Daine Klate, Teko Modise and Katlego Mphela, who have all blossomed into Premier Soccer League stars and league winners. Ngele is set to work under one of South Africa’s best coaches next season and could be well placed to take his career to the next level.
