Akanamali and Khiring Khorong Festive Songs?

Poll results predict the two hits are this year’s festive songs

With the festive season fast approaching, Batswana are looking forward to that song that will be the hit of choice in major occasions of this year’s season of merriment. ATI’s Khiring Khorong and Sun-EL Musician’s Akanamali seem to be this year’s festive bangers as they emerged as the most preferred songs in a Facebook poll carried out by Time Out.
Akanamali, the mid-tempo house track with leading vocals provided by vocalist Samthing Soweto tells the story of young men struggling to find love because they are broke. Within a few weeks into its release this year in August, Akanamali was number 1 on the YFM Top 40 and was requested on various radio stations. Akanamali is Sun-EL Musician’s first single on the upcoming EP also titled Akanamali. The song currently sits on over 75 000 views on Youtube.
“Most of the songs on my album are about life and what I have gone through. My music is from the heart and I cannot function without it. Now I’m comfortable to make the music I love and that people will enjoy. I don’t box myself in and try to accommodate fans. This album is a mixture of sounds,” Sun-EL told SA media.
Sun-El, whose real name is Sanele Sithole, says his sound is modern Afro house influenced by disco, funk and jazz. He says he also enjoyed African music that is electronic and atmospheric which is world class.
Meanwhile, Atlasaone ‘ATI’ Molemogi’s first single, Khiring Khiring Khorong from his latest album Envelope, released in July, was voted second as this year’s festive song. The song, which has been enjoying massive airplay in music festivals and radio stations according to ATI’s manager Lloyd Toteng, keeps growing with time. Toteng has also admitted that the song that is currently sitting on more than 480 488 views on Youtube will definitely be a festive banger and remain relevant even in the coming years. “It is one of those timeless songs that keep getting bigger each day,” he told Time Out.
