Multi award winning recording label Bang! Gae has compiled the stable’s first compilation album titled True B-Dub Stories, which features close to 20 artists signed under the label.
The 30-track compilation album carries diverse musical genres that range from hip hop, Motswako, RnB, Funk to Jazz. The project features the likes of Chrome, Epic, Young Black, Lerato Rantao and Abigail Isa.
“True B-Dub Stories is our first official compilation, which is a collection of songs made entirely by Bang! Gae artists. The volume 1 is way to keep our fans looking forward to something from us annually as the second one will drop next year around the same time,” said Tshepo ‘Nephew’ Moanakwena, Bang! Gae managing director.
He says the main objective of the project is to give upcoming artists a platform since they do not have any singles playing on radio stations. “We want to show our divers the ability of making different music genres and prove to cooperates that we mean business”.
He noted that the tracks amounted to 30 because the recording label had a number of recorded music material from their various artists, with some of the songs having been recorded three years ago.
“Compiling 30 songs was also a way to accommodate for every one’s preference in music so that we could include something for everyone, young and old. Songs like Robala Nnana were made for the older generation whereas songs like 665 were made for the new trap school generation. From real R&B music by Cello to traditional music by MAFiSA and Reggae sound by High Nation, the project has more to offer for a real music lover,” said Nephew.
He stated that the title True B-Dub Stories was derived from a track that Young Black recorded four years ago, “It resonated well with it being a body of work rather than one song. It also meant that the title could relate more to the lives of the people of Botswana and attract curiosity to non-citizens as to what B-Dub life through music could sound like”.
Bang! Gae music producers F.A.T, Nephew, Taku, Lukundo, DJ Taydo, Donno, Big Duce worked on the various tracks on the album. These producers have continually put Bang! Gae on the map with the likes of Taku producing hit tracks such as Ban T’s Naomi and Ricky Rick’s Makaveli.
The compilation album is available for free downloads and streaming on different online platforms such as Audiomack, SoundCloud and YouTube.
