Gaborone will be alive with music, dance, poetry, theatre and comedy as the annual Maitisong Festival kicks off for the year 2019. Slated for April 5th until 28th in Gaborone, the festival will showcase a bevy of local and international shows to provide an unforgettable experience for all. With a varied and exciting line-up of events, there will be both free and paid shows to ensure that everyone gets a piece of the action. In its 33rd year running, the Maitisong Festival is undoubtedly the biggest arts festival in Botswana. For this year’s festival, the theme is Kgotla ya Badiragatsi, which will look at nurturing Botswana’s growing creative arts industry and helping it fulfil its potential. The festival will focus on supporting young, local artists by providing them with a platform to showcase their talents and abilities. Maru-a-Pula School and Maitisong remain the home of the Festival and will host the opening and closing nights.
