While women are spoilt for choice when it comes to lifestyle events, the same cannot be said for men and it is for this reason that Business Botswana partnered with Votex Media to introduce the premier Mancave lifestyle event. Slated for November 10th at the Phakalane Golf Estate in Gaborone the annual event promises to entertain, stimulate participants’ minds and create a friendly networking environment according to the event organisers.
“This event is mainly centered around the male of the species in Botswana. The world keeps evolving. We have always had women and their high tea events and this time around we have an event that caters for what a man wants,” said one of the event organisers, Edith Maygilip from Votex Media.
The term Mancave first cropped up in John Gray’s Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus and is used more widely to talk about home spaces that are culturally masculine in one way or another. In their Mancaves men have their much needed time and space and usually come back refreshed, renewed and ready to take on the world. Maygilip said their event will be a private space for men to engage in various topics of interest including men’s health and fitness, motoring, investments, fashion and grooming as well as fine food and beverages.
“Mancaves appeal to men and make them happy. We will be engaging speaks who are experts in different fields and we are in the process of finalizing our list of speakers. It will also be a networking space where ideas, knowledge and success stories will be shared with curious minds,” she said.
Maygilip also shared that Panama hats inspired fashion was the theme for the day as the suave hats add style and personality to any look. The Panama hat embraces both a sophisticated style with a linen suit as well as smart casual wear. Guests will also be able to leisurely stroll through various experiences with cigar tasting, game stations, live band and men’s market stalls. A variety of lounges and activations will make for a memorable experience.
“We will be having a cigar lounge and Lengau wines is one of our sponsors who will be treating our guests for the day. This is also a great opportunity for corporates to interact and treat their clients and we urge people to book their stalls with us well in time,” Maygilip revealed, adding that the event has received positive feedback especially from men.
Moreover, Losika Luzboy Seboni and Thobo Kerekang will be leading proceedings for the day as the Masters of Ceremony. Premium Cigars, Phakalane Golf Estate, D’S Damat, Primetime Life, Monkey Shoulder, Hair Essentials, Camelot Spa and Webtickets are some of the events sponsors. Early Bird tickets until 30th September cost P950 single and P9 000 for a table of 10 while normal tickets sell for P1500 single and P12 000 for a table of 10. Ticket includes entrance, food, drinks, limited complementary cigars and an after party.
