In celebration of three years of entertaining, mentoring and uplifting the youth of Botswana, Redds Chillstep Sunday hosted a celebratory event this past Sunday, headlined by South Africa hip hop star A-Reece alongside Botswana’s own DJ Scratch, Deelow, DJ Kenn, Raptured Roots and Jozi Straight at the Stanbic Bank Molapo Piazza.
“We are extremely proud of what ChillStep Sundays the brand has become over the past three years, and none of it would have been possible without the tremendous support of the youth. We have experienced attendance numbers beyond our wildest dreams, be it the monthly entertainment or our themed educational workshops aimed at empowering the youth under the theme #KeepTheYouthBusy,” said ChillStep Sundays founder and lead project coordinator, Drew Chadhall.
Established in July 2015, Redds ChillStep Sunday started out as a small event, which presented a platform for local visual artists and talent to showcase their skills and wares. The event evolved to fill the void of limited or nonexistent entertainment for young people. The lifestyle event encompasses art, dance, black culture, food and photography as its main ingridients.
“As a brand, we have set a standard that our supporters hold us up to and they too hold themselves to a certain esteem. If anything, the bar was raised high for this party. We wish to thank our long term supporters Redds, Native Events, Media Republic, Stanbic Bank Piazza, The Big Show, Audio House and Urban Soul for the tremendous help and aid they have given us,” Chadhall concluded.
