After hosting a multitude of shows on YaronaFM for close to eleven years, our favourite drive time host Tshepang Izzy Motsisi has announced that his last afternoon show, dubbed #TheLastRide will be this Friday, 29th of June. When asked if he will be leaving the station for greener pastures, the man who’s voice has been a regular fixture on the Yarona F.M. line up for over a decade said he only knew that his current show will not be hosted by him beyond this weekend.
“I have been a radio presenter at Yarona FM for 11 years now and I feel that I have done my part and it is time to move onto something more challenging. I will be doing more behind the scenes work as of July 2018,” he told Time Out, adding that he was not sure who will be taking over the show.
Izzy wraps up this chapter of his career after hosting the afternoon drive for three years and says he will really miss the flexible working hours, full creative freedom and constant engagement with his listeners on radio.
Throughout his radio career he presented the weekend, mid morning, evening shows and pretty much all other time slots as a stand in presenter.This has endeared him to an audience that has seen him evolve into the multitalented celebrity he is today. He says with this work experience he has witnessed radio transition from restrictive terrestrial broadcasting to the limitless possibilities that come with social media and advancements in online technology.
“I have witnessed radio accommodating these new improvements in communication where it has definitely enhanced the experience for the listener. In the future, I want to see more radio practitioners use the medium to it’s full potential and harnessing the fact that everything in radio happens in realtime,” he said.
