Decked out in an elegant mustard Delayna Scott dress, Miss Botswana Palesa Molefe was among a few beauty queens invited to witness the crowning of Miss Côte d’Ivoire last weekend in Côte d’Ivoire.

Molefe left last week to reunite with Miss World South Africa, Miss World Europe, Miss World Tunisia, Miss World Ecuador and the reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska, to celebrate Olivia Yace’s achievement as Miss World second runner up and Miss World Africa. While Molefe was part of the star-studded affair of crowning Miss Cote D’Ivoire 2022, Marlène Kouassi, she has also announced that the Miss Botswana team has started the search for a new queen. She urged aspiring beauty queens to take up the opportunity and follow the official Miss Botswana page to secure a spot in the national pageant.

“I want to officially announce that auditions are officially open, to you at home I want to tell you that you are intelligent, beautiful and your dreams are valid. With that said, I wish you all the best,” she said on the Miss Botswana page.

The national pageantry has often been criticised for starting the pageant late, which in turn affects the performance of participants at the Miss World stage. In a previous interview, Miss Botswana organizer, Ben Raletsatsi revealed that delays were caused by the lack of sponsorship for the Miss Botswana journey. This time around, Raletsatsi said participants needed to be a few weeks or months into their Beauty with a Purpose Project so that it would be a fully-fledged project during the Miss World finals.

Said Raletsatsi: “Don’t wait to enter the competition before you can start on your project because by then it would be late. Our plan is that this year’s Miss Botswana should be the winner of Miss World.”
