In their bid to promote the arts industry as well as making a meaningful contribution to disadvantaged communities in Botswana, the Boitumelo Foundation will stage a star studded concert on 25th of August at Duma FM Grounds, all in the name of charity. The Foundation partnered with the combined talents of rapper Game Zeus Bantsi from DIY Entertainment and DJ Sidney ‘Boogie Sid’ Nzala from The Beatbox Productions whose collective experience in staging and promotions promises a truly memorable evening of local and international music talent.
The Boitumelo Foundation is a non-profit organisation that assists deserving community upliftment projects throughout the country and beneficiaries include organisations like AAP Home Based Care & Family Life Programme and The Masiela Trust which supports orphans and vulnerable children in the Kgalagadi and Kweneng districts amoung others.
The lineup of the one day show features the crème de la crème of the local music scene including Han C, Mpho Sebina, Charma Girl and Dj Kuchi. South Africa will be represented by Samthing Soweto of ‘Akanamali’ fame and house music artist Busiswa.
Boitumelo Foundation Founder and Patron, Ramachandran Ottapathu explained that the foundation, “Aims to assist in all ways possible the promotion of music, dance, arts, sports and culture as music is a universal language and it is through music that the most powerful collaborations have been born.”
This year the foundation has added an interesting twist and put forth a challenge where prospective fans have to share their community service activities to stand a chance to bag a free ticket. Organisers will release more information on the challenge closer to the date of the event.
In terms of goals, the Foundation aims to raise P1 Million through this year’s activities. They said this ambitious target can only be met if all stakeholders come together and lend a hand with the cause.
