LEATILE ZACHARIAH
In a spirited effort to keep its members informed and engaged, Botswana Medical Aid Society (Bomaid) hosted a successful cohort session with pensioners on 27 November 2024 at its headquarters in Gaborone.
The event was part of the ongoing Rhythm of Life campaign that seeks to foster connection, well-being and transparency among members.
The session, designed specifically for pensioners, provided an inclusive platform to share updates on the fund’s latest developments, gather valuable feedback, and engage in meaningful discussions.
Open dialogue
In her opening remarks, Bomaid Regional Manager-North, Tsaone Tlalanyane, emphasised the importance of the campaign and the organisation’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of its members.
“This initiative highlights our commitment to fostering meaningful relationships with our members,” she stated. “Pensioners are a vital part of our community, and this campaign is about ensuring they feel supported, valued and heard. Today’s session is an opportunity for open dialogue and strengthening the trust between Bomaid and our members.”
Health screenings
The event featured a robust programme that combined information-sharing with health and wellness activities. Attendees were offered health screenings, including blood pressure checks, glucose level monitoring, and general health consultations conducted by qualified health professionals.
These screenings provided pensioners with an opportunity to assess their health status and receive personalised advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
In addition to the screenings, pensioners enjoyed direct interactions with Bomaid staff who were available to address queries and offer assistance with account management and service-related concerns.
Personalised approach
This personalised approach allowed for open dialogue, helping to build trust and understanding between the organisation and its members.
The interactive discussions focused on recent developments in the fund, including enhancements to benefit structures, updates on partnerships with healthcare providers, and the introduction of innovative technologies aimed at improving service delivery.
Pensioners were also invited to share their experiences and concerns, providing Bomaid with valuable insights into areas where the fund can further improve.
Specialised attention
“This session is a demonstration of how much we value our members, especially pensioners, whose healthcare needs often require specialised attention,” said Dr Malebogo Kebabonye, Bomaid’s Chief Clinical Officer.
“Through initiatives like the Rhythm of Life campaign, we aim to provide not only health coverage but also meaningful engagement that empowers and supports our members.”
The Rhythm of Life campaign continues to be a cornerstone of Bomaid’s strategy to strengthen member relations and promote wellness.
