Setsile reportedly parting ways with TS Galaxy

Jwaneng Galaxy have confirmed that they are keeping a close eye in the recent saga between Thero Setsile and TS Galaxy, with the intention of re-signing the player if he is made available by his South African club. This past week there were reports suggesting that the player has been released from his contract while other reports claimed that the player had decided to request a transfer away from the club.

The uncertain situation has caught the attention of the local club, they have acknowledged that they are aware that there is a growing uncertainty about the player’s future and they are ready to act if the player officially becomes available. When the Jwaneng outfit sold Setsile they inserted a clause which gives them the first option when he is being sold or released from his contract. Jwaneng Galaxy’s Public Relations Officer, Tankiso Morake informed Gazette Sport that they would be interested in re-signing Setsile.

“He is still a TS Galaxy player as far as we know so far, we have not been given official confirmation about his situation. If he has been released then we will be the first club to hold talks with him as we have the first refusal clause. We want to highlight that we have not made any contact with him as we still regard him as a TS Galaxy player, we will only make contact if we receive official news from his club,” Morake stated. Setsile joined the club during the July/August window and he has provided the club with major performances this season, the highlight being the CAF Confederation Cup clash against St Louis Suns United whereby he became the club’s first ever player to score an away goal in the continental competition.

If the reports of a contract termination become a reality, Setsile will follow a string of players who have been released by South African clubs in recent months, the list includes Thatayaone Kgamanyane (Chippa United), Kabelo Seakanyeng (Chippa United) and Mwampule Masule (Chippa United) and Thabang Sesinyi.
