Ngele set for an unwanted record

BONGANI MALUNGA

Mogakolodi Ngele has, over the years, been one of Botswana’s best exports to the ABSA Premiership as he has lifted numerous trophies and scored more goals than any other Motswana in South Africa. However, his spell at Mamelodi Sundowns is nothing short of a nightmare and the player is edging ever closer to leaving on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.

For all of his decorated PSL career, Ngele has been a mainstay of most of his teams’ first team plans but at Sundowns he has turned into a forgotten man, he has been training away from the first team all season and was denied loan moves in January.

He could now set an unwanted record of going the whole season without playing a competitive club game in the PSL despite not being injured. The Zebras star has not featured for Sundowns in the league or any other cup games this season, further demonstrating that he is not in the coach’s plans.

Normally, cup games are used to give fringe players an opportunity for first team chances but Ngele has not been afforded that chance this season, with less than two months left in the season it appears that his first team absence will be prolonged as the club has not shown any signs of ending his first team exile.
