Mochudi Centre Chiefs Vice Chairman Clifford Mogomotsi has admitted the difficulties of securing the club’s new sponsors, and has ruled out the possibility of launching a new partner anytime soon. Magosi remain without a sponsor following the expiry of their partnership with Boitekanelo College in May.
This publication reported in 2016 that the sponsorship, which included Chiefs players being given Boitekanelo educational services for free was accompanied by over P200 000 annually. It now appears that Boitekanelo will not be returning to the club again.
Mogomotsi in an interview with Gazette Sport revealed that the club has not been able to get any breakthrough in their search for a new partner. “We are working on a few proposals, and so far it has only been a few promises, nothing solid, it is tough but we are hopeful,” he told this publication, but could not be drawn into disclosing which organizations had made those promises.
“We normally do not disclose that, remember its only proposals,” He added that normally Chiefs launch their partners in the off season, and ruled out a possibility of launching a sponsor during the course of the season.
“At Chiefs we normally have a sponsors launch in the off season or maybe during the Christmas period, but if that time passes, just know that there is nothing we are launching, we don’t launch or announce sponsors during the season,” further stated the Vice Chairman.
Quizzed on the likelihood of an investor arriving he said, “Investors are there, but we have stopped all discussion because we know very well that we are going to hit a brick wall. No one wants to be associated with club because of the ongoing disputes, we need to seriously get our house in order and then things will return to normality,” he reiterated.
In the end he said they will be meeting this week to learn the dates for the club’s court case. The club is embroiled in a battle where two factions are contesting for ownership of the club.
